Who will be the first player to safely lay and then hatch three little chicks? Sound simple? Perhaps! But beware, cheeky foxes are out to steal your unhatched eggs…
It’s a simple game to play – children need only have four cards in their hands at any time, which makes deciding what to do very simple. Older children will enjoy adding a little extra strategy – keeping an eye on who is about to win and then scuppering their chances, and younger children ADORE the fact that a daddy chicken, mummy chicken and a nest mean they can lay an egg. The box says 6 years and upwards, but with a bit of help, this game could be played by a switched on 4 year old.
Panic in the hen house, the fox is on the prowl and the eggs have not yet hatched !
When it his turn to play, the players chooses :
- to throw a card into the pot
- or to carry out one of the game actions :
- lay an egg (by presenting the 3 cards – hen, rooster, nest, the player make take an egg card. He places in front of him, egg side up),
- give birth to a chick (the player presents 2 “hen” cards whilst imitating a hen’s cry. He then turns over one of his “eggs” to make a newborn chick appear.)
- or take an egg from another player (the player presents a “fox” card to an advesary, and ask him for an “egg” card (not a chick). The adversary may counter-attack by presenting 2 “rooster cards)
The winner is the first to manage to get 3 chicks. Comes in a lovely box with a sliding cover which measures 12cm x 8.5cm x 3cm. Suitable for ages 5 plus – 99 years.
Parent review :
Piou Piou by Djeco is the surprise hit of last year…Surprise, because we didn’t order it, but it accidently snuck into a delivery. Piou Piou proved to be an Easter holiday hero – both my children adore this game, as does my husband, which means that I do too!
